“A pint is best paired with great music & great friends”
The motto for Mark Legenza, founder and owner of On Tour Brewing Company couldn’t be more true. The chill vibe of this hot new brewery, located in the West Loop at 1725 W Hubbard St, is the first thing that caught our eye.
Featuring an open space with ample seating and, we saw families and friends hanging out, enjoying brews and conversations over food truck tacos with great music (and it wasn’t too loud where we had to shout across the table).
On Tour Brewing brings a fresh and unique approach to beer — it’s not the same battery of over-hopped, one-note IPAs and whatever else sits right with the latest trends. Their nuanced beers bring crisp and clean flavors that get better with every sip, and the extensive tap list shows an innate understanding, respect for, and knowledge of the heritage and history of beer and brewing.
On tap, the selections span the drinkable Sleepy Fire, a near-extinct Berliner Weisse, to Chasing the Moonlight, a whopper of a chocolate porter that’s brewed with lactose, for a sweetness that evens out the rich, caramel notes of toasted malt. We definitely think their Barton Hall Scotch Ale is a real winner–you’ll be sure to hear about this beer real soon.
On Tour is not just another brewery in the Chicago scene–their expert brewers, welcoming location and relaxed, social environment brings something that seems to be missing in the brew scene lately. With a great rotating beer selection and menu, jam-packed events calendar and really exciting brews on tap, On Tour is the a great spot that we think should be on everyone’s short list to check out. Oh, and leave the cash at home–On Tour Brewing is a card-only establishment.
